Cristiano Ronaldo’s (40) future remains unclear. The captain at Al-Nassr, his deal expires at the end of the current season. There are talks over a renewal and reports that those talks are advancing positively. However, that doesn’t exclude the possibility of a departure for the former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus forward, who aims to compete at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Portugal.
There is, however, one club that he won’t be joining, Versailles FC. The club currently sit 15th in the National 1, France’s third division, and are at serious risk of relegation this season. A parody account posted earlier that Ronaldo would not finish his career at Versailles – logically – and that elicited a response from the French club.
In an official press release titled “Cristiano Ronaldo”, the club issued a one-line response: “Are you stupid or what?”
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, a frequent critic of the level of French football, therefore looks unlikely to conclude his career in France, or at least at Versailles.
