Victor Munoz thriving at Liverpool as Spain forward targets bigger role

Victor Munoz has had a fast year. New club, new league, World Cup winner, senior Spain minutes, and now a growing role at Liverpool under Andoni Iraola. There is a lot going on, and the player himself seems aware of the obvious point, it has happened quickly.

That pace matters. A summer move from Osasuna to Liverpool can swallow players whole, particularly forwards adjusting to the Premier League. Munoz, 23, has handled it well so far. Six appearances, three starts, one goal, and that first strike was not a tap-in. It was a fierce equaliser at Anfield against Nottingham Forest, the kind of finish that gets noticed.

Strong start under Andoni Iraola

Liverpool have been looking for sharp adaptation from new arrivals and Munoz has given them that. He has not claimed a guaranteed starting place, but he has shown enough to suggest he can become a regular option. He is direct, works hard and, crucially, does not sound distracted by the noise around him.

Speaking while away with Spain, Munoz said: “I think the fact that all this has happened so quickly does not give me time to process it – [but] I think it’s good, for both me and my family.

“You try to enjoy every moment and every stage, and the truth is that now I am in a good moment, both in Liverpool and here in the national team.

“I am focused on the next game with the national team.”

Premier League intensity driving development

His assessment of English football is clear and sensible. No clichés, no grandstanding. Just the obvious differences between leagues, stated plainly. Munoz said: “I really like to follow La Liga and I notice a lot of differences compared to the Premier League.

“La Liga is much more tactical, the Premier League games are much more physical.

“It is true that I notice more differences compared with previous years; the intensity of the training sessions, all the physical work, which is very big and is helping me to grow.”

That is what Liverpool will want to hear. Adaptation is not only about matchdays. It is about surviving the tempo of training, absorbing physical demands and improving without drama.

Spain challenge offers next test

Spain have already beaten England 3-2 and Croatia 4-1 during this UEFA Nations League window. Czechia are next, then Croatia again. For Munoz, the task is simple, keep earning trust in a squad full of high-level talent.

He summed it up well: “I try to work every day, to contribute my bit, to try to improve my things.

“With that work and that consistency – which I think is what characterises me – I will always try to take a step forward and always with the aim to help the team.”

No mystery here. Victor Munoz is in form, Liverpool are benefiting, and Spain have another forward pushing hard for more.
