Robert Lewandowski made headlines on Barcelona’s long awaited return to the newly renovated Camp Nou wearing the captain’s armband for the first time since joining the club in 2022 and marking the occasion by scoring inside four minute against Athletic Bilbao on matchday 13 of La Liga.
Despite not being the longest serving Barcelona player on the pitch, Lewandowski led the team out as captain in Hansi Flick’s starting XI joining Lamine Yamal & Ferran Torres in the front line.
Just four minute into the match, he justified the honour. A sharp right footed finish past Unai Simon gave Barca the first goal at the "new" Camp Nou after nearly two year away from their iconic home.
