Celtic held talks over video earlier this week to make inroads in their pursuit of impressive FC Aarau striker Elias Filet.
Filet arrived at Aarau in January 2025 on a free transfer, signing a one-and-a-half-year deal with the Swiss club.
Since his arrival, the 24-year-old has made a massive impact, establishing himself as the team’s star striker and earning a contract extension that ties him to the club until June 2027.
In the recent season in the Swiss second tier, the Challenge League, Filet made 35 appearances for Aarau, while scoring 20 goals and providing five assists.
His spectacular displays in Switzerland have attracted the interest of several clubs, including Celtic, who are pushing to get ahead in the race.

According to French outlet Foot sur 7, Celtic are ‘advancing’ in their pursuit of Filet after ‘a video conference took place this week’.
Celtic’s video conference was with the striker’s representatives, as they seek to sell a switch to Celtic Park.
The Bhoys are facing competition from Belgian club Genk, who have already submitted a concrete offer to the player.
Celtic’s approach is to try to reach an agreement on terms with Filet before then approaching Aarau to open talks over a transfer deal.

It remains to be seen when the Glasgow club will make an official move to bring Filet to Celtic Park.
If they cannot get Filet’s green light and he chooses Genk or another club, Celtic might never reach the stage of submitting an offer.
With the summer transfer window approaching, Celtic, who secured their fifth consecutive Scottish Premiership title, will be looking to build on their success and strengthen their squad in a bid to qualify for the Champions League next season.
The Bhoys remain keen on midfielder Benjamin Tahirovic and have already made contact with Brondby regarding a possible move for the player.
Martin O’Neill, secured as manager for at least a further year, will want to avoid the fate of recent Celtic managers by getting good business done early on in the window.
