Cyril Ngonge admits it is ‘incredible’ to score his first Napoli goal on his home debut against the Verona side he left only a few weeks ago.
The striker made the transfer in the January transfer window and came off the bench at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Verona were leading through a Diego Coppola header on a set play, but Ngonge equalised before Kvicha Kvaratskhelia turned it around with a stunning curler.
“It’s difficult to describe the emotions I am feeling right now. It’s incredible. I scored my first goal for this great club and it’s amazing,” Ngonge told DAZN.
“We wanted to all win together, as we had been playing well, but lacked the finish, so I came on eager to change the game.”
Coach Walter Mazzarri said that the new signings have brought fresh enthusiasm and excitement to the side that has struggled since winning the Scudetto last season.
“I try to add something to a magnificent group that welcomed me very warmly. I want to give my all for this team and we won this game together.
“It was a tough match against a good Verona side. It might not have been the best performance, but these are three very important points.”
