It’s 3-0 and game over for Chelsea at the City Ground. After a dreadful first half we feared the worst, but the Blues made 3 changes at half time and really got into gear in the second period.
They were still very dependent on poor defending from the home team, but the arrival of more experience on the pitch allowed Enzo Maresca’s team to get a grip on the game.

It’s Reece James who has the third, celebrating his 200th Chelsea appearance with a volley slammed in from the middle of the box.
A dangerous Estevao corner was half cleared by Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels, but the dreadful Forest defence were all hesitant to get out to James, who was waiting for the ball to drop. He slammed it in. As ever, his technique was immaculate.
What a way for him to celebrate a milestone game for James. We don’t want to jinx it, but after some bleak times he’s on his best run of fitness and form for literally years now. Missing England duty already looks like a great plan, and we hope he can keep up this good form and health record all season.

The Blues made their breakthrough with a double courtesy of Pedro Neto. He set up Josh Acheampong for the first then slammed in a free kick for the second.
It’s not all good news today, however. There is some concern about Wesley Fofana, who was supposed to be back after a concussion, but instead is not in the squad at all. We’re told it’s not injury related – which is even more worrying in many ways.
