Neil Lennon brought Wanyama to East End Park

Victor Wanyama joined Dunfermline Athletic on a short term contract until the end of the season, having been recruited by Neil Lennon, his former boss Celtic. Lennon was brought in by the Pars in an attempt to stave off relegation.

Despite Victor being sent off on his debut against Scott Brown’s Ayr United, the Pars have rallied under Lennon’s leadership and have secured their objective for the season in keeping Dunfermline in the Championship.

The Fife club are currently in discussions with Victor Wanyama about extending his deal. The former Celtic pair could spearhead a push for promotion next season with a long overdue the Scottish Premiership for one of the country’s most historic clubs.

Back-to-back titles and Scottish Cup: He played a key role in Celtic’s success, winning back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles and the Scottish Cup between 2011 and 2013.

First European Match: Wanyama started in Celtic’s 1-1 draw with Udinese in the Europa League on September 29, 2011.

Strong Performance Against Barcelona: He opened the scoring with a powerful header in Celtic’s 2-1 victory against Barcelona in the Champions League.

Contract Negotiations: Wanyama’s agent released a statement in October 2012 indicating that he had turned down a new contract offer due to wage demands not being met, although Celtic manager Neil Lennon expressed some surprise at the news.

Valued at £25 million: Lennon publicly stated his belief that Wanyama was worth £25 million after the reported contract offer rejection.
