Villarreal, La Liga's current third-placed side, have announced on X that Dani Parejo will leave at the end of the season. The 37-year-old departs after six years with the club.

Sunday's meeting with Atlético Madrid at La Ceramica, the final league fixture, will be his last appearance for the Yellow Submarine.

Parejo joined from neighbours Valencia in 2020 and has made 269 appearances, scoring 16 goals.

The Spain international, capped four times between 2018 and 2019, lifted the Europa League in 2021 and featured in the Champions League twice.

A Real Madrid academy graduate, he spent 2008-2009 on loan at Queens Park Rangers and played for Getafe from 2009 to 2011.
