Villarreal B have strengthened their back line with Alicante-born centre-back Álvaro García Blanes, who arrives on loan from Deportivo Alavés for 2026/27. The club said in a statement that he will play under David Albelda in Primera Federación.

Born on 15 September 2005, he turns 21 next month. He has 78 Segunda Federación games for Alavés B, with four goals and one assist, and now steps up a division.

A right-sided centre-half, he offers height and power, plus anticipation and defensive leadership. Villarreal view him as the profile needed to complete the centre-back unit and raise competition.

The B team have also been active this summer. Jan Encuentra, 20, joined from FC Andorra on a deal to 2029 after a loan at Unionistas de Salamanca, and Valen Gómez, 22, signed from Talavera to 2028. Left-back Manfa Keita renewed to 2029 and moves up from Villarreal C.

Key prospects Ayman Arguigue extended to 2029 and Cheikh Thiam to 2031, while Alassane Diatta and Carlos Maciá trained with the first team. Outgoings include Lautaro Spatz to FC Andorra, Pau Cabanes to CD Eldense and Hugo López on loan to FC Andorra after winning the European Under-19 title with Spain.

Albelda stays for a second season after guiding Villarreal B to fourth place and the play-offs, where they lost to Zamora. The Mini Submarino again looks youthful but intent on remaining competitive.
