Villarreal Femenino head back to Santa Cruz de Tenerife on a second successive island trip, aiming to turn a positive opening into three points, visiting Real Unión de Tenerife at San Joaquín on Saturday at 12.00, peninsular time.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Jordi Ferriols’s side began the Primera Federación with a 1-1 draw at Tenerife B, while Real Unión de Tenerife also drew 1-1 against Barcelona B.
Ferriols says the squad are highly motivated and he was satisfied with much of the debut display even though it did not bring a win. He expects another demanding trip.
He warned that the experienced, technically sound hosts can hurt teams out wide and in transitions, so focus and bite will be essential alongside their football.
Villarreal plan to keep the ball, limit running lanes and assume the initiative, yet the coach underlines the division’s difficulty and the need to adapt to the game’s demands.
Promotion to Liga F remains the ambition after they fell just minutes short last season. The groguetes want to build a campaign that keeps them in contention for top spot and avoids another play-off.
A win would strengthen that case and leave them on four points from two matches, both results coming away from home.
