Renato Veiga led the way in Villarreal’s player ratings at Mallorca, while goalkeeper Arnau Tenas mixed a costly error with a strong response.
Ayoze Pérez put the visitors 0-1 up. Muriqi then scored after Tenas presented him with a chance, before the keeper produced three excellent saves in the second half. El Periódico Mediterráneo reports that Veiga was the primary minder for Muriqi and the organiser at the back.
Santi Mouriño impressed on his return, robust and dominant against the dangerous Luvombo. Rafa Marín focused on aerial duels with Muriqi and, aside from a few positional slips, delivered a solid display.
Sergi Cardona won a penalty and attacked the flank with menace, also passing up a clear chance to make it 0-2, while defending soundly. In midfield, Thomas Partey supplied calm early on but faded, and Santi Comesaña toiled before two risky losses crept in. Alfon González battled but offered little incision on the left.
Tajon Buchanan squandered two clear counter-attacks yet offered pace and pestered Mojica. Tani Oluwaseyi led the press with his physical presence and found space in behind without applying the finish.
From the bench, Moleiro added freshness, Pepe lacked a take-on, Gerard Moreno was hurried, Mikautadze erratic and Parejo brought composure.
