Hassan left Villarreal in August 2024 for one and a half million euros after loans at Mirandés and Sporting de Gijón. In total he has generated three and a half million euros for Villarreal across the two moves.

The Egypt international enhanced his profile at the 2026 World Cup, playing two matches, around 126 minutes, and recording one assist. Egypt beat Australia on penalties in the round of 32, then led Argentina 2-0 in the last 16 before losing 3-2.

He troubled Argentina’s defence, including a powerful run to find Mohamed Salah in a move finished by Ziko, later ruled out. He also featured in the counter that brought Egypt’s second.

At Oviedo he made 82 appearances across two seasons. He played 44 games with four goals and three assists in 2024/25 as Oviedo returned to Primera División, then 38 games and three assists in 2025/26, finishing with four goals and six assists.

Hassan will wear number 23 at Celtic, taking on the challenge of competing for titles and returning to the European stage. For Villarreal, the clause delivers fresh summer funds without affecting the current squad.
