Villarreal’s window remains active despite a near-complete first-team group, with decisions looming on Kambwala, several youngsters and possible incoming funds.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the squad has been rounded off by the return of Carlos Romero, the promotions of Carlos Maciá and Alassane Diatta, the comebacks of Ilias Akhomach and Thiago Fernández, and the signing of Hungary goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi for a campaign spanning La Liga, Copa and Champions League.
Iñigo Pérez now has strong competition at centre-back, with five options in Juan Foyth, Logan Costa, Pau Navarro, Renato Veiga and Willy Kambwala, with Santi Mouriño also a possibility. Villarreal are weighing whether Kambwala should stay to compete for minutes or leave on loan. Proposals have arrived, including interest from Osasuna, and a final decision has not been made.
Hugo López will step into professional football with FC Andorra on a season-long loan without a purchase option. The under-19 European champion is set for regular minutes in Segunda.
Álex Forés leaves permanently for Burgos, with Villarreal transferring 50% of his rights for 500,000 euros. He signs a four-year deal and Villarreal retain a stake that could yield future income.
Villarreal still hold 40% of Haissem Hassan, sold to Real Oviedo last season for around 1.5 million euros. Oviedo are negotiating his move to Celtic in a deal that could be 8-10 million euros, which might deliver 3.2-4 million euros to Villarreal if completed at those figures.
