Villarreal weigh midfield move and Kambwala exit in final week of window | OneFootball

Villarreal enter the final week of the window still seeking a midfielder, with one departure close, before Tuesday 1 September, 23:59.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the key names are Nathan Saliba, Pathé Ciss and Willy Kambwala. Saliba and Ciss relate to the incoming slot, Kambwala is close to a move to Italy. The club are prepared to wait for late-window opportunities.

Saliba remains a leading option. Villarreal are in talks with Anderlecht over the 22-year-old Canada international, a World Cup player this summer, but the price is around €20 million.

Anderlecht do not need to sell, Saliba arrived a year ago and is contracted until June 2029, so they hold a strong hand. Kambwala’s exit is more advanced. The 21-year-old French defender is close to joining Cesc Fàbregas’s Como 1907 after the Italians overtook Osasuna when that route looked almost done. The plan is a loan to Como with a €10 million purchase option, as he seeks minutes after a serious muscle injury and amid centre-back competition.
