André Villas-Boas, the FC Porto president, has congratulated Sousense on their promotion to the Campeonato de Portugal, highlighting the importance of district football.

According to O Jogo, he sent a letter to club official Pedro Carvalho, praising a season of consistency for the side from Foz do Sousa, Gondomar.

Villas-Boas said the achievement underlines how district football sustains the wider sporting ecosystem and, above all, supports local communities.

He added that moving into a higher tier brings new responsibilities and tougher demands, yet also offers a chance to consolidate progress and establish Sousense at a broader competitive level.

The letter extended congratulations to the presidency and board, coach Sérgio Martins, the football department, the players and everyone who contributed, and offered sincere best wishes for the next stage.
