Vinicius Lira has been released from the Copa São Paulo and will link up with Santos' first team.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the left-back started the club's Copinha opener and returns to Baixada Santista to be available for head coach Vojvoda.

Santos begin their Paulistão campaign against Novorizontino on Saturday 10 at 16:00 at Vila Belmiro.

He will miss the under-20s' two remaining first-phase games on Wednesday 7 and Saturday 10 against União Cacoalense and Grêmio São-Carlense.

Rafael Gonzaga should be his immediate replacement in the tournament.

Lira is not new to the senior set-up, debuting in 2025 in the state competition.

He made three Paulistão appearances.

In the Brasileiro, he was on the bench in the defeat to Bahia in Salvador and in the final three Série A rounds against Sport, Juventude and Cruzeiro.

Lira is under contract until March 2028.

He began at Palmeiras and joined Santos in 2017, and has a deal with Adidas.

His youth honours include the 2018 Dani Cup U-12 title, 2022 Copa Votorantim U-15 runners-up, the 2022 Paulista Cup U-16, the 2023 Copa Brasileirinho U-16 and the 2025 Paulista U-20.
