Manchester United are looking to take advantage of the growing tension between Vinicius Junior and Real Madrid.
Vinicius is regarded as one of Europe’s most dangerous wingers, having played a crucial role in Real’s Champions League triumph in 2024. The electric forward was named The Best FIFA Men’s Player for that year.
However, the 25-year-old finds himself away from the spotlight following the arrivals of Kylian Mbappe and Xabi Alonso. The Spaniard is trying to build his Real around the Frenchman.
Talks over a new deal at Santiago Bernabeu have also stalled, sparking speculation over the future of Real’s all-time highest scoring Brazilian.
According to a report in Spain, as relayed by Football365, United officials have met with Vinicius.
It is claimed the Brazil international held a “summit” with the Premier League giants, who are ready to make him a “new icon” of the club. He might fancy an opportunity to get away from the shadow of Mbappe in the Spanish capital.

Further, Vinicius’ contract at Real is due to expire in the summer of 2027. The left winger is reportedly “demanding to be paid exactly the same” as Mbappe, “a demand that those at the Santiago Bernabeu consider unfair, given the performances of the World Cup winner and the number 7.”
As such, Los Blancos could be forced to consider his exit next summer to avoid the possibility of losing him for nothing.
It is added that United’s co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is determined to secure Vinicius’ signature.
The report states: “Jim Ratcliffe wants to make him the club’s new icon, just as Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo , Eric Cantona, and Ruud van Nistelrooy were in their time, and initial contact has already been made.”
Accordingly, United “intend to pay Vinicius absolutely everything he asks for, as money is no object” after “several emissaries” met the star attacker.
However, Ratcliffe has publicly insisted that he “would rather sign the next Mbappe rather than spend a fortune buying success.” As such, the suggestion that United are going all out to sign a marquee name like Vinicius appears far-fetched.
