Vitor Roque has begun his recovery at Palmeiras after undergoing surgery on his left ankle last Friday.
According to Globo.com, the striker started treatment on Monday and will only return after the World Cup, following a conservative plan.
During the squad's trip to Lima for the 2-0 win over Sporting Cristal in the Conmebol Libertadores, he followed a tailored schedule with the club's Health and Performance unit.
He had been troubled by pain since the Paulista semi-final against São Paulo. After more than a month out, he returned as a starter against Athletico Paranaense at Allianz Parque.
In the next match, he started against Jacuipense in the Copa do Brasil but left after only 15 minutes, a challenge on the same ankle leading to his exit on a stretcher.
Palmeiras opted for the operation to address the problem, similar to the issue faced by Piquerez, another absentee. The left-back is already doing physiotherapy on the pitch and is aiming to return before the World Cup.
