Vitória could field Cacá against Corinthians at 20:00 on Saturday at Barradão in the 12th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. According to Meu Timao, the club have reversed their stance and are preparing to pay a clause to use the centre-back.
On Friday morning, Vitória’s training note said Cacá would not play. Hours before kick-off, the report said Jair Ventura planned to select him, which, if confirmed, would require a R$ one million payment to Corinthians under the loan agreement.
Cacá has started since his February debut and contributes at both ends. In their last league outing, he scored in a 2-0 win over São Paulo, also at Barradão.
After that match, Cacá said the club had already asked to pay the fee, added that the president told him to play calmly and be ready for Corinthians, and stated he would be on the pitch.
A shortage in defence could be influencing the rethink, with Neris, Camutanga and Riccieli in the treatment room, leaving Ventura short of centre-backs.
Cacá is on loan from Corinthians and remains under contract there until the end of 2028. Vitória are covering his wages and must buy him if they stay in Série A after the season.
