Vitória host Botafogo in the Brasileirão on Sunday, 16 August 2026 at Estádio Manoel Barradas, with mid-table points and continental ambitions at stake as the hosts seek breathing room and the visitors look to firm up their top half push.
Vitória and Botafogo drew 0-0 in the reverse fixture on 23 July, and both are sat in a congested middle section of the table where small margins could shift the picture.
Leão da Barra have been patchy in the league, losing to Flamengo and Palmeiras either side of a home win over Vasco, though they did thump Athletico Paranaense 4-0 in the Copa do Brasil. Glorioso are unbeaten in three league matches, having drawn with Fluminense and Vitória and won at Cruzeiro, but were heavily beaten 6-1 at Cienciano in South America.
Injuries will influence selection. For the hosts, Camatunga, Edu and Nathan Mendes are out in defence, with Dudu and Ismael sidelined in midfield and Anderson Pato absent up front. For the visitors, Allan, Kaio Fernando Da Silva Pantaleao and Júnior Santos are injured, while Fernando Marçal and Gabriel Justino are suspended.
Nêgo average one goal per game and have eight clean sheets, leaning on home strength with 22 points collected in Salvador. Fogão have scored 35 times and could again look to Arthur Cabral and Danilo, both on seven league goals (per the season rankings), while their crossing threat has yielded a 23.28% accuracy from open play.
A home win would take Leão da Barra to 29 points and could nudge them towards the top half. Victory for Fogão would move them to 33 points, strengthening their Copa Sudamericana grip and edging them closer to the Libertadores battle.
