Dusan Vlahovic might have opened the door to some select destinations during the summer, in particular Milan, but ultimately stayed at Juventus, which was never willing to give him away only to get rid of his disproportionate salary.
According to Fabrizio Romano (via SOSFanta), the Serb plans to play out the final year of his contract and assess his options afterward. At this stage, he hasn’t reached an agreement with any other side.
Vlahovic has also been linked to Inter and some Premier League sides, but there’s nothing really in the works for now. He’ll be technically able to sign a pre-contract with his next club in January.
The former Fiorentina star got off to a good start despite coming off the bench in the first two rounds, scoring twice. He voiced his attachment to the Bianconeri in his post-game remarks.
The 25-year-old is scheduled to pocket €12M this campaign, split between his base salary and a €4M bonus that will be activated next June. That’s one of the main reasons why he was always reluctant to leave Turin.
If they keep using him, and they have every technical reason to, as he has unique traits in their squad, it’ll be a fascinating contract year, which happens more often in American sports than in football, where the players in question usually get marginalized.
He would need to have an incredible season to stay at the monetary level he’s now. However, the figures will be more accessible once the add-ons are out of the way. And perhaps his present team will reconsider its stance at that point, but he’d have to really shine for that to even become a discussion.
