Vojvoda non-committal on Neymar return for São Paulo clash | OneFootball

Juan Pablo Vojvoda stopped short of confirming Neymar for Santos’s clássico with São Paulo. The match is on Wednesday 4 at 20:00 at Vila Belmiro in the second round of the Brasileirão.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the coach stressed the forward’s importance and praised his bravery for playing three or four games in the Brasileiro run-in with a meniscus problem. He said Neymar has resumed training on grass with the squad after surgery, adding that the team need him but a decision is yet to be made.

Neymar Jr is recovering following an arthroscopy on his left knee on 22 December.

The aim at the club is for him to be flying when he does return, with March’s final FIFA date before the World Cup in mind and a place on Carlo Ancelotti’s list. This year he renewed with Santos until the end of December.

While sidelined, he watched the Novorizontino match and the derby with Corinthians from the boxes at Vila Belmiro. He rejoined the club last year and endured ups and downs in 2025, including three muscle injuries that cost him months. He finished the year on 12 goals and 6 assists in 30 games.
