It has been an impressive start to 2026/27 for Andrée Jeglertz’s side, who are unbeaten in all competitions.

In our opening four Barclays Women’s Super League games, the Blues have fought off Birmingham City, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Charlton Athletic to see us sit at the table summit with a 100% record heading into October.

Following our WSL success, European nights have returned to City’s calendar, with our 2026/27 Champions League League Phase campaign beginning with a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Bayern Munich.

Across our five fixtures there were a number of incredible collective and individual displays, but only three could be named in the first shortlist for the 2026/27 Etihad Player of the Month award.

Blindkilde Brown keen to build on 2025/26 success

LAURA BLINDKILDE BROWN

It’s been an incredible start to the season for Laura Blindkilde Brown, both on and off the pitch.

The 23-year-old put pen to paper on a new City contract at the start of the campaign, committing her future to the Club until the summer of 2030.

And on the grass, the England international has been instrumental in Jeglertz’s side as we complete September unbeaten.

Blindkilde Brown started four out of five games, providing energy, technical ability and link-up play in City’s engine room.

That included making a key impact as a second half substitute in our 2-2 Champions League draw at Bayern Munich.

She completed six passes into the final third, won all of her ground duels, made 100% successful dribbles and five recoveries before teeing up Carlotta Wamser for our all-important equaliser.

AOBA FUJINO

Like Blindkilde Brown, Japan international Aoba Fujino also signed a new City contract at the start of the campaign.

And on the pitch, Fujino has shown exactly why the Club were so keen to extend her time in Manchester.

The forward’s versatility has shone through in our opening five matches, and she’s been one of the Blues’ most dangerous and consistent performers across September.

Dynamic and energetic out wide or through the centre, Fujino’s link-up, quick passing and movement in the pockets has been a joy to watch.

Hemp’s iconic City moments

LAUREN HEMP

Hemp started each of our first four fixtures in September and once again showed why she’s such an integral part of Jeglertz’s squad.

She started the season by earning her 200th appearance for the Club against Birmingham City, becoming just the fourth player to hit a double century.

And in front of goal, it’s been a fruitful month for the England international, who has scored two goals and assisted one.

Arguably her most impressive performance was against Liverpool, setting the pace in a 4-2 win with Hemp bagging two goals.

The 26-year-old also showed her maturity and experience in our 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich, causing the German league title winners constant issues on the left wing with her technical ability and speed.
