From Manchester City at the very top when it came to wage bills, Ipswich at the very bottom.

As you can see below, Man City’s £224m wage bill last season was more than five and a half times what Ipswich’s was.

So which clubs outperformed (and underperformed) compared to their wage bills?

Whilst more pertinently at the present time, one of the big problems Newcastle United have run into this summer when trying to sign some of their top targets, is that certain other clubs are willing and able to pay far higher wages.

You can see the situation Newcastle United are in, when you compare the wage bills below.

Whilst as you can see, Give Me Sport say that some of the figures quoted are based on estimates, it is widely accepted that when it comes to wage bills, Newcastle United were around that eighth or ninth position, definitely not top seven. This just reinforces what an amazing job Eddie Howe has done.
