Wales ended a disappointing UEFA Women’s Nations League campaign by earning a very creditable first point against group winners Germany.
Gemma Grainger’s side were already relegated to League B but Germany arrived at the Swansea.com stadium needing a win to be sure of taking top spot in the group and therefore a semi-final place.
Wales were the better side in the first half, in which Gemma Evans had a goal ruled out and Rachel Rowe’s strike came back off the post, hit keeper Merle Frohms but just went out for a corner.
Sophie Ingle saw her shot cleared off the line, while Sarai Linder went close for Germany with a dipping effort.
After the break, Olivia Clark tipped away a deflected strike from Elisa Senss, while Ceri Holland came off the bench to fire over the bar with her first touch.
Fishlock had a dipping volley saved by Frohms and in added time Clark denied Klara Buhl with a fine stop for a goalless draw.
Iceland’s win over Denmark meant that Germany did end top of the table.
