Bolton Wanderers mounted an epic late comeback to beat Huddersfield 2-1 in League One last night — and their stats over the past five seasons show this was no one-off for the Trotters.
Now up to seventh in the table, Bolton have made a habit of striking late. After trailing to Leo Castledine’s early goal for much of the contest, injury-time efforts from Sam Dalby and Amario Cozier-Duberry snatched the points for Steven Schumacher’s side.
To gauge Bolton’s prowess when push comes to shove, Playmaker delved into the archives to find out which teams have been League One’s most prolific in the dying stages — and Wanderers emerged as clear winners.
Dating back to the 2021/22 season, Bolton have plundered a whopping 85 goals between the 76th minute and the final whistle — 17 more than any other side in the third tier.
Wycombe Wanderers (68 goals) are next on the list, with the Chairboys jointly topping this metric last season alongside Stockport County — both sides notching 20 late goals apiece on their way to the play-offs.
