Former Celtic striker Kelechi Iheanacho has continued his remarkable start to life in Turkey after scoring again for Bursaspor at the weekend.

The 29-year-old netted in a 2-2 draw with Erokspor, taking his tally to nine goals in just seven appearances since leaving Celtic during the summer.

Iheanacho has now scored in every league game for Bursaspor, including doubles against Istanbulspor and Manisa FK, helping his new side challenge near the top of Turkey’s second tier.

His prolific run comes after Martin O’Neill had been keen to retain the Nigerian at Celtic following his contribution to last season’s double.

Celtic held an option to extend Iheanacho’s short-term contract but missed the deadline to activate it. O’Neill subsequently expressed his desire to keep the striker, although the parties were unable to reach an agreement.

Reports later suggested Bursaspor offered Iheanacho around £47,000 per week to make the move to Turkey.

He has certainly justified their investment so far, with his latest goal particularly impressive.

Iheanacho produced a clever Cruyff turn inside the penalty area to escape his defender before finishing confidently at the goalkeeper’s near post.
