Cagliari Had the Upper Hand in the First Half

The Sardinians were more dangerous in the first half, coming close on three separate occasions. Ze Pedro and Michel Adopo’s headers whistled past the post. Afterwards, Marco Palestra charged forward on the right side before picking up Adopo, who cut it back to Sebastiano Esposito, but the striker’s close-range attempt went just wide.

For their part, Lazio finally tested Elia Caprile late in the half, as Kenneth Taylor attempted a shot from an almost impossible angle. The Cagliari goalkeeper comfortably dealt with the danger, as did Ivan Provedel, who pulled off a routine save on Riyad Idrissi’s attempt in the second half.

Tijjani Noslin immediately made an impact following his 84th-minute entry, with Yerry Mina receiving his second yellow card after tripping the Dutch striker on the edge of the box. Danilo Cataldi almost scored from the following free-kick, but Caprile was alert enough to produce a save at his near post.

The Lazio midfielder then had a late chance to win the contest with a sublime curler, but it sailed a whisker wide, as the score remained 0-0.
