Watford ‘to pull out’ of Riccardo Sottil deal as Stephan El Shaarawy nears Genoa | OneFootball

According to Sky Sport Italia, Watford have changed their minds and will not sign Riccardo Sottil, despite the Fiorentina winger completing medical tests in England.

Sottil had flown to London to finalise a loan with an option to buy at season’s end, with paperwork thought to be routine.

The 27-year-old came through Fiorentina’s academy and has had loans at Pescara, Cagliari, Milan and most recently Lecce. His deal at the Stadio Franchi runs until June 2027.

With Italy’s window closed and the Premier League deadline imminent, he could seek markets that remain open, or agree a mutual termination to become a free agent.

Genoa are close to agreeing terms with free agent Stephan El Shaarawy, released by Roma on June 30. The winger, who turns 34 next month, came through Genoa’s academy before moves to Milan, Monaco, Roma and Shanghai Shenhua. He last played for Genoa in May 2011.
