Something seems to click in Hansi Flick’s team whenever they make the trip to Saudi Arabia in January. The German manager got his starting line-up spot on in the absence of Lamine Yamal, and FC Barcelona cantered to a 5-0 win.

A brace from Raphinha, along with goals from Ferran Torres, Roony Bardghji, and Fermin Lopez, helped the Catalan club book their place in the final of the Spanish Super Cup. The Brazilian, in particular, had a mind-boggling game.

After the game, speaking to MovieStar+, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo, the South American spoke about the team’s mentality. He said:

“When we are playing well, doing things properly, defending and attacking well, I think the match becomes easier. It’s not that it’s an easy game, because playing against Athletic is always very complicated. They are a team with a lot of quality and many players who can decide a match. We are the ones who make the game easy or difficult ourselves. Whoever plays, we are always prepared, and we always give our best.”

The captain in Raphinha came out next, as he made sure to praise his Barcelona teammates. He continued:

“Roony came on very well, Fermín has also returned in great form, and I think this shows the quality of the squad. I will always look to reach my best level, and I will keep trying to have a season that, if not perfect, is almost perfect.”

Finally, Raphinha was asked who he would prefer between Atletico and Real Madrid. He said:

“Whoever wins the next match, we are ready for whoever comes. With this mentality, we have everything it takes to win.”

Every time Raphinha speaks, his leadership qualities come through clearly. He is a captain on the pitch, whether he wears the armband or not, and let us hope he can lead from the front with his performance on Sunday.
