Although he was still unable to start the game, Alejandro Balde still played a significant role in the match against Sevilla, which FC Barcelona ended up losing 4-1. The fullback came on in the second half, and one of his most notable contributions was winning a penalty for his side, which Robert Lewandowski was unable to convert.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Spaniard also talked to the media after the match and was rather blunt about his team’s performance. He had no qualms in accepting that the Blaugranes made a lot of mistakes in this match:

“We did a lot of things wrong. In the second half, we could have scored goals, but we have a lot to learn.”

The defender went on to highlight several factors that made this game difficult for his side:

“It was a complicated match — the schedule, the weather… but those aren’t excuses. We played a bad game and have a lot to improve… These are phases of the season; there are things to adjust.”

Balde believed that some of the mistakes will help them grow in the future:

“We had the penalty and other clear chances, but that will serve us for the future.”

Regarding the penalty his side conceded early in the game, the fullback believed it should not have been called:

“I think it wasn’t a penalty for me, and it was also a foul on Jules, but we have to improve.”

One of the few silver linings from this game was that Alejandro Balde was able to play a significant time without any problems. Hopefully, he will be able to get fully fit by the time the October international break ends, and then help Barcelona get back on the winning track.
