Manchester City Women manager Andree Jeglertz says his side need to keep their hunger, after winning the Women’s FA Cup and completing a historic double.

City beat Brighton 4-0 in the final, and Jeglertz was full of praise for his side but said they need to keep a strong mentality to try and keep winning.

“It’s been a long year. Winning the WSL title was big for the club. But we have also talked about, there is one thing of being able to win the title. But also, just a couple of weeks later, being able to be a winning team that is also winning the next title.

“So, keep on having this hunger and dedication to want something more and not be pleased. And I think that will be a very important thing for us in the future. To not think that anything will be for granted. We need to keep on having this hunger for the next level.”

City’s first goalscorer in the final was striker Bunny Shaw who has recently signed a new four-year deal to keep her at the club, after it was widely expected she would leave this summer.

On Shaw, Jeglertz said: “First of all, it’s amazing that she thinks (staying at) our club is the best way to become a better football player. And also that this is the right place she wants to be to win titles. So, of course, we are happy for that.

“We have Bunny Shaw in our team, and we play a certain way to get the best out of her. If you have another kind of striker, you need to do it differently. And I’ve said that the whole time, my biggest task is to play a certain way where I get the absolute best out of my players. And to get the best out of her is to put her in these situations. And, of course, now she’s staying, we are going to keep on doing that.”
