Pep Guardiola says he and his players will treat Salford with the utmost respect on Saturday and thinks this approach has been key to City’s unprecedented era of success over the past decade.
Guardiola has led the Blues to 18 major trophies in the past 10 years – one each of the Champions League, Club World Cup and Super Cup, six Premier Leagues, two FA Cups, four League Cups and three Community Shields.
City are already in the League Cup Final next month and the boss will be looking to plot a route to the FA Cup showpiece again this season with The Ammies our opponents in round four tomorrow.
He approaches every game diligently and holds every team he faces in very high regard.
And he stresses this tactic has paid dividends when you look at the City trophy cabinet during his time at the Club.
“Of course it’s League Two. We play at home,” he said.
“But I try to inoculate in the minds of the players that nothing is for granted and everything is difficult.
“Of course it could be easy afterwards. But we have to do our job.
“That’s why in the tight competitions in this decade, in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, we have always been there and always behaved really, really good.
“Tomorrow cannot be an exception.”

Hoping to hold a trophy aloft this term is new captain Bernardo Silva.
Bernardo is a much-admired icon of the football club but it’s his first season as skipper after being handed the armband at the start of the season.
He showed why he was the top choice during the dramatic victory over Liverpool at Anfield, sprinting back to the halfway line after his equalising goal to make it 1-1 as he looked to inspire those around him to a decisive second, which we duly delivered via Erling Haaland.
Guardiola discussed the midfielder’s style ahead of the weekend cup game.
“Yes,” he said when asked if the Portuguese led via his actions rather than his words.
“But he can talk too.
“The best leadership is leading by example. Anyone in the locker room cannot deny that he has that.”
