"We Took Over a Sick Club, Now It's Waiting to Die": A Zamalek Official's Chilling Confession

Zamalek SC’s financial secretary Hossam El Mandouh's issued grave warning about the deteriorating situation inside the club describing it as "catastrophic" and potentially leading to the club.

"Zamalek's on the Edge"

Speaking to MBC Masr Channel , El Mandouh said:

"The atmosphere at Zamalek isn't good at all. The club’s problem goes far beyond football results. we took over management when the club was sick and now it’s waiting for death"

Lost Investments

He pointed out that Zamalek’s main hope lay in its investments particularly the valuable land recently withdrawn from the club.

"We're being punished for something we didn’t cause. Since taking over at the end of 2023.. We've tried to revive the October branch project but losing that land's taken away our biggest opportunity" He explained.

Bankruptcy Fears

When asked whether Zamalek could declare bankruptcy.. El Mandouh replied cautiously:

"We hope not to reach that stage"

He admitted that the crisis's beyond short term solutions:

"We're solving problems day by day. The club’s foundation's its fans but we're in disaster not just crisis"

El Mandouh concluded by stressing that traditional income sources like sponsorships or broadcast rights cannot save the club.
