‘We will get through this together’: Pep Guardiola sends message of support to Man City

Pep Guardiola has publicly backed Manchester City following the club’s guilty verdict in the Premier League’s long-running financial case, insisting he remains firmly behind the club despite having left his managerial position.

Guardiola posted a message on Instagram on Wednesday, addressing City supporters and expressing his continued support for the club’s ownership, senior executives, players and new manager Enzo Maresca.

“I want every single Manchester City fan across the world to know I am here; more than ever,” Guardiola wrote.

“I am, always have been, always will be, behind my club, my owner, my chairman, Ferran [Soriano], the players, staff, Enzo [Maresca] and you, our unique supporters.

“Let me be clear: we will get through this together.”

Guardiola added “I love you all” to the message, which was accompanied by a photograph of him with chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak and other City figures.

The former City manager left his position at the end of last season after a decade in charge, with Maresca taking over as his successor. Guardiola’s tenure brought six Premier League titles, the Champions League and a host of other major honours, although part of his time at the club falls within the period covered by the financial charges.

City were found guilty of the financial-rule breaches following the independent commission’s findings and are expected to appeal. The club continues to dispute the allegations, meaning the verdict is not yet the end of the legal process.

Guardiola’s intervention comes as City prepare for the next stage of the case, with sanctions yet to be determined. The club’s position has been that the process remains ongoing, while the appeal is expected to determine whether the commission’s findings are ultimately upheld.
