Liam Rosenior has admitted he’s unsure if Reece James and Pedro Neto will be available for Saturday’s trip to Wolves.

The duo both missed Tuesday’s Carabao Cup semi final second leg defeat to Arsenal at The Emirates, and there appeared to be confusion around their absence.

It had initially been reported James was being rested, however Rosenior said both he and Neto had small knocks and had failed late fitness tests.

James has had his minutes managed carefully, and is currently in the midst of his longest injury free spell in a number of years.

However, his absence on Tuesday didn’t go down well with supporters, a number who felt the club captain had to be with the squad at a bare minimum for a cup semi final.

Neto has featured regularly this season, but his form has dipped over the last month or so, and the Blues need him fit especially given the form of Alejandro Garnacho, and the injury to Jamie Gittens.

Chelsea are looking to make it four league wins in a row when they travel to Wolves, and Rosenior has provided an update on the duo.

“Don’t know yet,” he told his pre-match press conference.

“Had training today, which was a recovery day for the lads who played a really tough physical game on Tuesday.

“We’ll check with them tomorrow and then we’ll make a decision then.”

Jamie Gittens set for lengthy spell on the sidelines

Whilst James and Neto could both feature against Wolves, one player who won’t is Gittens, after going off injured against West Ham.

The 21-year-old lasted just 26 minutes, and Rosenior has confirmed he’s set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring tear.

Gittens has one goal and five assists to his name in 27 appearances in all competitions, but his absence leaves Chelsea light in the wide areas.
