Florian Plettenberg links Werder Bremen with a late swoop for Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface. The Nigerian recently saw a loan deal with AC Milan fall through after multiple medical left the Serie A club squeamish. Werder – considered candidates for the 2025/26 Bundesliga relegation race – would obviously let such concerns fall by the wayside.
Bremen were able to pull out a dramatic and morale-boosting comeback draw against Leverkusen over the weekend, but remain without an experienced natural No. 9 on the squad. Since the humiliation of their early DFB Pokal exit, the club’s front office has at least secured some vital signings for the defensive corps.
The arrivals of fullbacks Isaac Schmidt and Yukinari Sugawara – as well as the soon-to-be-confirmed loan deal involving midfielder Cameron Puertas – nevertheless still doesn’t address the needs of the team in attack. Puertas is earmarked to work deeper in midfield as a partner for Senne Lynen in a double six setup for now.
