Manchester City star Nico O’Reilly is not shying away from admitting to the Blues still firmly being in the title race as they hunt Arsenal down in the run-in.

City maintained the pressure on Premier League leaders Arsenal with a 3-0 win over Fulham at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night, with Antoine Semenyo, O’Reilly and Erling Haaland on the scoresheet.

The Blues will be hoping for an Arsenal slip-up against Brentford on Thursday night as they look to trim the Gunners’ lead at the top of the table, having picked up form of late after a poor January to begin 2026.

Semenyo maintained his fine start to life in the north-west as he notched his fifth goal in Manchester City colours against Fulham, with Haaland also scoring for the second Premier League game in a row and O’Reilly making an impact when started in midfield.

“I love being in the middle, trying to dictate the play, break lines and getting in the box to try and score goals. It’s an honour to play next to Rodri,” O’Reilly said in a post-match interview with TNT Sports after the 3-0 win over Fulham.

O’Reilly has been one of Manchester City’s best performers this season and having started to display his versatility across left-back and midfield, the 20-year-old is a strong candidate to start for England at the FIFA World Cup this summer.

On the title race, O’Reilly added: “”We’re definitely talking about it. But for us our main goal is just three points every game and applying pressure on Arsenal as much as we can,” and that he will ‘definitely’ be watching on when Arsenal look to re-establish a six point advantage at the top of the table on Thursday.

The Manchester-born star rounded off a brilliant team move to give City a two goal lead against Fulham on Wednesday night, combining with Semenyo to remind the rest of the Premier League of the threat posed by the Blues in attack.

“I know Antoine (Semenyo) is very good one-vs-one and I made a two-vs-one running in behind and it was a tight angle so I thought I’d just chip the keeper,” O’Reilly added on his delicate dink over Fulham’s Bernd Leno on the half-hour mark.

O’Reilly sent a series of efforts from distance way over the bar in the first-half before Semenyo’s opener. “I know I can strike the ball well, try and get in them situations (for long-range efforts) and I go for it,” the Manchester City academy graduate said in conversation with official club media.

“Tonight (against Fulham), they didn’t go in but I’ll keep trying it and one day. I grew up there (in midfield) my whole life, so I know the role pretty well. But I enjoy playing anywhere really, the team’s amazing. Obviously Rayan (Ait-Nouri) is doing so good at left-back so I don’t mind if I’m left-back, attacking midfield or CDM – anywhere, I don’t mind.”

O’Reilly could benefit from a rest when Manchester City welcome Salford City to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the fourth round of the FA Cup, with Guardiola expected to shuffle his lineup to keep his most important stars fit and firing in the season run-in.
