The Baggies will be aiming to fight for promotion to the Premier League after missing out on a play-off place last season.

Albion finished ninth under Tony Mowbray, falling short of a top six finish by four points, which led to the decision to change managers.

Mason is taking on his first role as manager, and will now be looking to shape the squad to his liking ahead of the new season getting underway next month.

Here we look at all the latest news surrounding West Brom

It has been reported by Lewis Steele that West Brom are among the clubs eyeing a deal for Liverpool youngster James McConnell this summer.

It has been claimed that the youngster is set to sign a new long-term deal with the Reds before heading out on loan.

However, the Baggies face competition from Championship rivals Derby County and Ipswich Town.

There are also reportedly clubs from Germany that are interested in signing the 20-year-old on a temporary basis.

QPR reject Charlie Kelman offer

It was reported earlier this summer that West Brom are among the clubs keen on signing Charlie Kelman from QPR.

However, they now face competition from MLS side Charlotte FC, with Fabrizio Romano claiming an offer has been made.

It’s understood that the London outfit have turned down the club’s offer, with Charlotte looking to replace new Derby County signing Patrick Agyemang.

It remains to be seen what the player’s preference is at this stage, but West Brom will now have to fend off interest from America if they’re to sign the forward.

West Brom have confirmed their second signing of the summer transfer window, having already brought Nat Phillips to the Hawthorns.

George Campbell has made the switch from CF Montreal to add some extra defensive depth to Mason’s squad.

The 24-year-old has expressed his excitement about getting started with the Baggies, claiming he was delighted to receive an offer to move to Europe.

“I’m really excited to be here. I honestly can’t wait to put on the boots and start training,” said Campbell, via the official West Brom website.

“When the chance to sign came, I wanted to take it and experience football in Europe.

“I’m ready to go.

“The biggest thing for me is to stay focused on the task ahead, which is to help the team win.

“Whatever challenges come on the journey, I’ll be ready.”

Don Goodman makes Tom Fellows transfer claim

Don Goodman is optimistic that Tom Fellows will be with West Brom for the start of the new Championship campaign amid reported interest from Everton.

He believes that another year in the second division would be good for the 21-year-old’s development.

“I don’t know whether it’s my heart over my head, but I’d love to say yes [Fellows will be with West Brom],” Goodman exclusively told Football League World.

“West Bromwich Albion are a club that want to be challenging at the top end of the Championship, so selling undoubtedly one of your best players — who assisted 14 goals last season — would probably not be the statement of intent that West Brom fans would want from this new ownership.

“So I already said that he would personally be better served from another season in the Championship doing really well before maybe getting a shot in the Premier League.

“I don’t know whether it’s my heart ruling over my head, but I would love to think that he will start the season at West Brom.”
