The Baggies may need to strengthen during the winter window if they are going to make anything of the 2025/26 season.
West Bromwich Albion have not lived up to expectations in the Championship so far this season, but the January transfer window will give them an opportunity to strengthen their squad for the second half of the campaign.
The Baggies made an encouraging start to the season under new boss Ryan Mason, picking up 10 points from their first four league games, but they have since struggled to find any consistency and are currently languishing in the bottom half of the Championship table during the November international break.
Mason was allowed to bring in several new players during the summer transfer window, with the club spending money on a number of reinforcements including Aune Heggebo, Nat Phillips and Alfie Gilchrist.
West Brom also signed Toby Collyer, Samuel Iling-Junior and Charlie Taylor on loan, but for whatever reason, things have not quite clicked at The Hawthorns so far this term, and Mason will need to start picking up positive results quickly if he is going to get the supporters back onside.
Despite the negative mood around the club at the moment, only four points separate West Brom from the play-off places as things stand, so there is still a chance that the Baggies could find themselves in the promotion picture come the end of the season.
If that is to be the case, they will likely need to make the most of the January transfer window by bringing in some much-needed quality, and delving into the loan market could enable them to do just that.

We asked our West Brom fan pundit, Callum Burgess, which Premier League player he would like to see the Baggies sign in January, and he picked out an Everton right-back as his top target for the winter window.
"Albion are probably in need of a right-back with a more attacking side to his game," Callum said.
"I think, with his lack of first-team opportunities at Everton, despite there not being much competition in that area, Nathan Patterson could be someone that Albion look at taking on loan if you are looking at Premier League players who could potentially be available.
"Full-back is an area that Everton have repeatedly mentioned that they would like to strengthen in, meaning that Patterson is probably likely to be deemed surplus to requirements.
"It has not really been the best time for him there, but I think that a move away from them could be a decent thing for Patterson's career and could be beneficial for Albion as well."

Patterson has struggled with various injuries over the last couple of seasons, which is a key reason why he only made 10 Premier League appearances last term and is yet to feature for the first-team this time around.
He played 90 minutes for Everton U21s against Bradford City in the EFL Trophy last month, but David Moyes confirmed that he picked up a foot injury during that game and was also set for surgery to fix an issue with his hernia.
The 24-year-old, who has 23 caps for Scotland, will no doubt hope that he can put his injury concerns behind him in 2026, and if he has returned to full fitness in time for the January transfer window, a temporary switch to West Brom could help him get his career back on track, and could also provide a boost for the Baggies.
