West Brom working on deal to sign Nolan Galves | OneFootball

West Brom are working on a deal to sign French right-back Nolan Galves from Ligue 2 side Rodez, with Southampton also pushing.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, negotiations are ongoing and Albion hope to make progress in the coming days, with the 23-year-old set to choose his preferred destination.

His arrival would continue the defensive rebuild after Connor Townsend returned to The Hawthorns on Friday. Young centre-back Carter Pinnington joined from Liverpool last month.

Championship rivals QPR and Millwall have been linked this summer, along with Young Boys and Ligue 1 side OGC Nice.

Galves impressed for Rodez last season, making 36 appearances in all competitions and registering eight assists, including one in the promotion or relegation play-off.

Defence remains an area Albion intend to reinforce, and they also want help in wide attacking positions. Mikey Johnston is currently the only recognised senior winger, and the club retain an interest in bringing Danny Imray back.

Morrison’s side beat Shrewsbury Town 4-1 on Saturday, while another Albion XI lost 3-1 to Notts County in a behind-closed-doors friendly earlier in the day.
