West Brom right-back Nolan Galves will miss the rest of 2026/27 after knee surgery, a major setback during the international break.
ExpressAndStar.com reports the Frenchman came on in the first half of last month’s win at Derby County and was injured early in the second period.
Tests with a specialist led to anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, and he underwent surgery earlier this week. Albion medical chief Tony Strudwick said he will complete his rehabilitation with the club after a significant knee injury at Derby.
Galves joined from French second-tier Rodez in a deal believed to be worth around a million pounds. After early defensive teething troubles, he showed improvement at right-back after playing a more attacking wing-back role at Rodez.
James Morrison had initially suggested at least a few months out with meniscus damage, but later findings proved more serious than first thought.
The setback leaves Morrison short at right-back, so Brayann Pereira is in line to step up. Pereira’s debut brought two yellow cards after 34 minutes at Pride Park. He served a one-match ban as left-back Callum Styles covered against QPR, then returned unused in the Black Country derby defeat at Wolves.
The NEC Nijmegen recruit is expected to get a run to make the role his own. He did not join up with Republic of the Congo during this break despite a debut call-up.
