West Ham United have reached an agreement to sign Bayern Munich defender Noussair Mazraoui, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Hammers are in pole position to sign the Moroccan defender, but some fine details need to be ironed out before the move is finalised.

Mazraoui is keen on a move to the Premier League, and he will be the club’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window if everything goes according to plan.

Plettenberg reports that both clubs have agreed a deal worth an initial £13 million plus an additional £3.3m in add-ons.

West Ham also have a verbal agreement in principle with the Moroccan defender, and all parties are working towards completing the deal.

The right-back is an area West Ham need to bolster following the departure of Ben Johnson, who joined newly-promoted Ipswich Town on a free transfer.

The Hammers are also long-term admirers of Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but Mazraoui appears to be Julen Lopetegui’s preference.

West Ham must move quickly to avoid a last-minute hijack from Man United

While West Ham sort out the finer financial details to finalise the deal, they need to move fast to avoid allowing Man United to hijack the transfer at the last minute.

While the Hammers are considered front-runners to sign Mazraoui, the Red Devils are still interested in the 26-year-old.

It remains to be seen if they’ll submit a last-gasp proposal, but reports suggest they’ll need to offload Wan-Bissaka before recruiting a new right back.

Mazraoui made 55 appearances for Bayern, scoring once and providing eight assists during his two-year spell at the Allianz Arena. He also won the Bundesliga title and the German Super Cup.

The Moroccan featured 29 times across all competitions last season, contributing four assists.

Although he only started in 15 of his 19 Bundesliga outings, he created five big chances, helped keep six clean sheets and won 62% of his ground duels.

He would be a decent addition to Lopetegui’s squad and would provide competition for Vladimir Coufal at right-back.
