West Ham’s goalless draw at Crystal Palace confirmed the Premier League’s first relegation and handed Leeds United a modest boost.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the result was only a small lift for the Hammers in their survival bid. Leeds ended the weekend eight points clear of the drop after a 3-0 win over Wolves, while third-bottom Tottenham Hotspur conceded a late equaliser in a 2-2 home draw with Brighton.
That victory also left Leeds seven points ahead of fourth-bottom West Ham, who had a game in hand to play on Monday at Selhurst Park.
Chasing a win that would move them four clear of the dropzone, the Irons controlled long spells, with Jarrod Bowen again a key threat, but Palace finished the stronger.
It finished 0-0, giving West Ham a point and leaving Spurs two points shy of safety. The draw also confirmed Wolves’ relegation, as they can no longer overhaul West Ham.
