West Ham earn first win of the WSL season at home to London City Lionesses | OneFootball

West Ham United earned their first three points of the 2026/27 season by defeating London City Lionesses at home.

After cruising past Manchester United in the season opening game last Friday, London City's expensively-assembled side were expected to build on that away to the Hammers. However, Rita Guarino's side exploited the space behind the Lionesses' defence to secure all three points.

Indeed, the two West Ham goals were very similar with the first coming in the 21st minute when Seraina Piubel fed Kelly Gago who rounded goalkeeper Elene Lete before finishing.

Shortly after the break Riko Ueki freed up Viviane Asseyi to power her way behind the visitor's defence and double her team's lead.

Eder Maestre's side did pull one back midway through the second half when Daniëlle van de Donk got her second goal of the season with another clever finish.

The home side regrouped from there though and managed to safely play out the final moments of the game to claim all three points.
