According to an exclusive report by Sam Tabuteau for the Evening Standard on September 10, Soucek has rejoined group sessions but continues individual fitness work as the club prepares him carefully for competitive football. The plan should prevent an immediate full load.

Nuno has two other selection concerns before Wrexham on September 12, with Taty Castellanos being monitored after tendon pain. Alphonse Areola faces daily checks with a dead leg. West Ham started life in the Championship after relegation, while Soucek chose to stay and publicly committed himself to helping the club return to the Premier League.

West Ham United need more than fresh legs in midfield; they need personality, discipline and experience, and Soucek brings those qualities in abundance.
