West Ham are unimpressed by Flamengo’s €40 million offer for Lucas Paquetá and will notify their rejection of the terms. The London club signalled last week they want at least €45 million, about R$ 280.3 million.

talkSPORT reports that Flamengo want the midfielder this window, while West Ham would only release him in May after the European season ends.

Flamengo submitted the bid after president Bap returned to Brazil, which allowed the club to finalise details and formalise the numbers.

The clubs had already held talks to align expectations. Flamengo do not plan to go beyond €40 million, though they could alter the structure to persuade West Ham.

Flamengo are relying on Paquetá’s wish to return. He has told West Ham’s board of his desire and has not been named in recent squads. His last game was on 6 January, a defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

A Flamengo academy graduate, Paquetá debuted in 2016, became a regular in 2017 and joined Milan in January 2019. He later moved to Lyon, then arrived at West Ham in 2022.

If completed, this would be the biggest signing in Brazilian club history, surpassing Gerson’s transfer to Cruzeiro. Flamengo have added two January signings, centre-back Vitão, ex-Inter, and goalkeeper Andrew, ex-Gil Vicente.
