In a recent report, The Athletic stated that West Ham United are eyeing a move for AS Roma full-back Bryan Reynolds who is currently playing on loan at KVC Westerlo. It has been claimed that the Hammers are hoping to bring the American talent to the London Stadium this summer.

Reynolds’ Impressive Loan Spell In Belgium

Reynolds is having a decent loan spell at KVC Westerlo as he has managed to catch the eye with his performances on the right side of their backline. The 21-year-old has registered one goal and five assists in 32 appearances for the Belgian outfit this season across all competitions.

The three-time United States international has been a consistent performer on the right flank and has done well to average 1.4 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 0.5 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Jupilier Pro League. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from the back after completing 81.8% of his attempted passes in the Belgian top-flight (stats via whoscored).

Reynolds’ current deal at his parent club AS Roma will run out in the summer of 2025. Hence, the Hammers will have to make a sizable offer if they are serious about recruiting him in this off-season.

What Will Reynolds Add To West Ham United Boss David Moyes’ Side?

Reynolds is a good tackler of the ball and can make some timely interceptions for his team on the defensive end of the pitch. He usually clears his lines when needed and can also create the odd chance for his teammates in the final third.

The United States sensation is a good dribbler with the ball as well but is still quite inexperienced at the highest level. Furthermore, there are some question marks over whether the youngster can cope with the physical nature and high intensity of English football if West Ham manage to land him this summer.

Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting someone with Reynolds’ potential as he could be nurtured into a top talent at the London Stadium in the future. We can expect the United States talent to add more quality to David Moyes‘ defence and help the Hammers push for European football in the coming seasons.
