Senior West Ham United players have told family and friends this week that they still believe Graham Potter is the best man available for the job, according to the Telegraph.
Others have spoken positively about the 50-year-old West Ham manager outside their close circle as pressure mounts on him at the London Stadium club.
The Hammers have lost four out of five Premier League games this term and have been dumped out of the Carabao Cup.
Potter is under pressure with West Ham owners looking at other options as they eye a potential replacement in the dugout.
However, he is still being backed by senior players in his squad and they have expressed their support for him internally and externally over the course of the past week.
The likes of Nuno Espirito Santo and Slaven Bilic have been linked with the West Ham job, but Potter retains the faith of the senior players.
They still believe he can turn around their fortunes despite the disappointing start to 2025-26.
The managers linked with the job have not generated excitement among those senior players.
They are not convinced that a change in dugout would guarantee a better outcome than they believe is currently possible.
West Ham are back in action on Monday with a trip to Everton and a win will bring much-needed relief in the meantime.
They visit Arsenal afterwards next Saturday for their last game before the October international break.
Potter could do with a positive performance and result at Emirates Stadium to boost his chances of holding on to his job.
The support of the dressing room will not have a huge say on his future as the fans are unhappy, but it is telling.
The players now need to deliver on the pitch and prove that they are behind Potter if they want him to remain in the job beyond the coming weeks.
