Leeds United and West Ham have issued late fitness updates before Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final, with several doubts and two players back. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, assessments will run close to kick-off.
Both clubs return after two weeks off for the London Stadium tie, the winners set for Wembley in the semi-finals.
Daniel Farke outlined on Thursday that it was a waiting game over a key player. On Friday Nuno Espirito Santo said injuries were being evaluated.
Positives first. Leeds left-back Gabi Gudmundsson is available after suspension and has shaken off a knee knock, having been withdrawn late in a World Cup qualifier against Ukraine then completed Tuesday’s play-off win over Poland. West Ham full-back Oliver Scarles, out with a fractured collarbone in October’s 2-1 defeat at Elland Road then sidelined by a fifth-round knock, returned to the Villa matchday squad before the break.
Centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, injured in the warm-up before Aston Villa, remains a doubt while the Hammers continue checks. Crysencio Summerville sustained a calf problem in the fifth-round win over Brentford and missed West Ham’s next two games and the Netherlands’ March fixtures, with his status being reviewed day by day and any call likely to be late.
Konstantinos Mavropanos suffered a head injury in Greece’s 1-0 defeat to Paraguay, and reports in Greece suggested he would miss Tuesday’s Hungary game, leaving clear doubts under concussion protocols.
For Leeds, Noah Okafor is a slight doubt after a hamstring lay-off. He came off the bench against Brentford, travelled with Switzerland but did not feature, and indicated no risks would be taken so soon after injury.
